The battery could not be desulfated, have it checked or replaced. F03 The battery was unable to reach the “full charged” voltage. Could be caused by trying to charge a large battery or bank of batteries on too low of a current setting or the battery may have a shorted cell. Try again with a higher current setting or have the battery checked or replaced. F04 The connections to the battery are reversed. The battery is connected backwards. Unplug the charger and reverse the connections to the battery. F05 The charger was unable to keep the battery fully charged in maintain mode.

When this happens, the alternator pulley, which rides on the flat side of the belt, slips for a few moments until friction dries up the water. Sorry for the poor quality. This isn’t my photo. This instrument measures arbitrary, unitless relative EMF. Note the white and red markings. From the space between the white range and the red markings, we can probably infer that voltages in those ranges are not normal, but also not dangerous.

My plan was to research what vehicle it goes to, then sell it on eBay and make a few bucks. Electricity is measured in volts, amps and ohms. Volts are the power a battery puts out, amps are how hard the battery will push that electricity through the circuit, and ohms are how much resistance to that flow is in the circuit. Most modern cars have voltage gauges with an idiot light that comes on indicating low battery charge, but older cars have an amp gauge that tells you if your battery is discharging being used up , charging receiving more electricity from the generator or alternator than it is using , or neither the charging is equal to the battery use.
When voltage is back to normal, the ammeter shows zero needle straight up to let you know your battery is good and everything is ok. So far, so good. Six gauges had needles in the middle, including the one pictured.
Help! Amp Meter 6 or 12 volt?
Printer Friendly Well its weird. I also knew my amp gauge wasnt working. So I thought, I will just run a split second of current in each and see what makes the amp gauge move. I was using the “horn” so when I honked it would send a current. Yes, this was probably not the best idea, but it seemed decent at the time.
from instrumentsrus. replace your amp gauge with an oil pressure gauge or volt meter! now, you can finally have an oil pressure gauge or volt meter to replace the amp gauge in your chevelle, monte carlo or el camino gauge package.
In order to provide working clearance, remove the left defroster hose from the windshield outlet; disconnect the right hand fresh air control from the instrument panel; and; the speedometer cable from the speedometer head. Disconnect the clock hole covers light wires from the chassis wire cable. If equipped with clock, disconnect the clock lead wire red wire with fuse from the ammeter gauge and the clock light wires from the chasis wire cable.
Remove the two retaining nuts and bracket from the rear of the clock hole cover or clock if car so equipped. Remove the clock hole cover or clock through the front of the instrument panel. Drill two holes in the left side kickpad and inner cowl panel using the dimension shown in figure 1.

Honda – Civic Charging Problem A repeated complaint regarding this problem, particularly with the or alternator used in the mid to late 90s and into early , is that the replacement alternator does not charge.
Failure to the device you hook up the temporary install an auto meter,. Has two small size for some bucks for an interface required. Anywhere with the same day of says it may 07, the old gauges monitor your mustang how to the gauge.
This part is now being repro’ed. You can now purchase it from Chevy 2 Only: Other ammeters run all of the current through the gauge. If you hook up the stock gauge in this manner, you will cook the gauge. This one works a bit differently. It looks for the current drop across a resistor shunt and uses that instead of a direct current measurement: Here is the original SS wiring diagram: The main power goes from the battery to one side of the shunt via a 12 gauge red wire, and then from the other side of the shunt to the horn relay via a 12 gauge black wire.
Everything on the car except for the starter is supplied power via the lug on the horn relay. The diagram shows that the ammeter is connected to the lugs on the shunt by two 18 gauge black wires. This is the factory setup. The shunt is Delco part number , Here is what it looks like:

Wiring DC Ammeter (Load Meter) / Volt Meter
Simple, they are cheap, durable, and readily available. No other alternator comes close. Even if a different brand of alternator is free and in perfect condition, it will eventually fail and need to be replaced. If it bothered me that much, I’d remove the Delco logo with a grinder and stick a Ford Script decal on it. Seriously, if anyone is that worried about originality, why are we even discussing doing a 12 volt conversion? Ok, now that I’ve thoroughly annoyed all Ford lovers, there is another inexpensive solution.

April 01, , You don’t change anything in the dash harness. The existing setup in a car with idiot lights has a temp line coming in already to the light, just need to take the light out of the circuit and run the temp line to the temp gage. Also change out the termperature sending unit to one for gages. Ammeter and tach leads can be run as new wires from the tach and ammeter gage out through the firewall to the coil, horn relay and the charging circuit junction block near the battery.
If you want to set it up as GM built it, the tach and ammeter leads 3 wires total need to be terminated at the proper locations in the bulkhead adapter under the fuse block in the interior of the car.

I RV was kind enough to include one in the start-up kit they furnished. They cost a minimal amount, are a necessity and in our case was furnished by the dealer. Dog Bone Adapter lets you hook up to 15 amp outlets. Weatherproof jacket encloses 10 gauge, 3 wire cord for safe, free-flowing AC power.
Simple Motorcycle Wiring Diagram for Choppers and Cafe Racers I get a lot of questions about wiring motorcycles. Sometimes people are just trying to fix their blinkers and aren’t familiar with how motorcycle electrics work – but more often than not I get requests about trimming down electronics for custom riders.
The ammeter was a fairly common accessory for MGs prior to Starting the MGB was fitted with an alternator. With progressively higher current capacity in the alternators an ammeter needs wider scale and progrressively larger connecting wires to carry the higher current. These wires pass from the engine bay into the passenger compartment to connect to the meter on the dash panel. Any accidental short to ground in one of these wires effectively connects the battery hot terminal to chassis ground, which in turn will melt insulation on the ammeter connecting wires, may melt neatby wires, may even start an electrical fire that can burn rapidly with PVC insulation as the fuel.
Safety device could be an in-line fuse equal to the maximum scale reading on the ammeter. As such, ammeter is not a popular accessory in later model cars with alternator. The MGB alternators were not so large as in some more modern cars, limited to 42 or 45 amps maximum output. So an ammeter with 50 or 60 amp scale would suffice, depending on what size temporary electrical load might be applied like an air horn compressor for instance.
For electrical connection you need to find the point where the alternator output and all electrical power to the car is tapped from the main battery cable on the input side of the starter solenoid. Connect the ammeter in series with this wire.
Meters: AC Amps
What needs to be done to install an ammeter in a car with an alternator? The first issue is that the alternator puts out a lot more current than the original generator, so you need a higher capacity ammeter, like with face scale rather then Then you need to install wires large enough to carry all that current through the ammeter. Then there is the issue that these high current wires will run through the firewall into the passenger compartment behind the dash, and any possible short in these wares has the potential to pass perhaps more then amps, melt insulation and burn the wiring harness.
But if you insist on doing this, consider the following diagram. This diagram shows the original control box to identify the wire terminals.

Gx75 not charging a lawn mower battery is only good for a couple years when keeping it charged and testing voltage doesn’t tell you what is has for amps is the volt meter read more than the off voltage while running then it works they only have a amp charging system Apr 30, Garden I have a w maxa ER generator that has a battery assist added PM Is the battery a regular 12v car battery, or maybe a lawn tractor battery?? Once the generator is started Replace battery with your choice of 12v products considering physical size, amp range and warranty.
There are two methods of charging the battery used by Coleman. Examine your wiring diagram to discover which you have. Simple test with volt meter will show if system is charging. Test voltage at battery with engine off, then start engine and retest looking for slightly higher voltage indicating charge. The charging system is like a trickle charger and not like your auto with initially high amp charge then taper to minimum.
If your run your generator for long periods of time and you feel that the battery is being overcharged, then rig a switch to stop charging after one hour or longer.

A single ballast resistor being identifiable having only two prongs. You want to wire the ballast resistor in series with the ignition feed to the coil. Be certain to mount this resistor away from wiring harness’ and other meltable components. This resistor DOES get hot. And don’t forget to pack a spare in the glove box.
The CJ2As wiring is about as simple as it gets, but the wiring diagrams in the Willys manuals are a compromise, and can be confusing. Aside from being a schematic, they are also a layout, with the parts being shown in the same relative locations they would be on the vehicle.
An ammeter must have all the current the vehicle uses except starter running through it to read it properly. If you connect it between the alt and batt it may only read alt output and not show discharge. Also the wire gauges specified are way too low. Fine for an older vehicle putting out 30 amps, but not most newer ones. Hence the reason for shunted type ammeters. They are also alot safer as not all that amperage is running through the vehicle.
To have it work correctly, you have to have the ammeter between the alternator and all the acc loads.
